Turkish Çay (Tea)

Ceylon tea sweetened with white sugar, enjoyed at home.

TS:
JS and I are back!

Of course, don't expect any posts about Turkey anytime soon. As you know, it will probably take me about 6 months to a year to get to them. ;)

As it so happens, my person was quite unwilling to leave Turkey without carrying with it a Turkish tea set. Teehee. I was quite content having the set in my possession, despite having to carry them on my lap on the plane.

So, here it is, my cup of çay (pronounced "chai").

TS:
Tea in Turkey was usually (perhaps always) sweetened, but milk was not added.

To my surprise, Ceylon tea was quite common in Turkey. More often than not, we were served Ceylon.

At times, I added milk and sugar to really strong Ceylon tea during breakfast to make Hong Kong Milk Tea! =)

(Or, faux HK Milk Tea, as there was usually no evaporated milk available.)

We will resume posting once the final vestiges of jet lag has worn off.

  1. He he he ... 6 months to a year is not too long a wait. Why, I had not yet blogged about Madrid since summer of 2009. Good to have you back home. Ben

  3. So pretty. I would've carried it on my lap too. And I'm still working on June 2009 Portland posts before I can do later travel posts so 6 months is nothing. :P
