Turkey (the country, not the fowl)

TS:
By the time you read this, JS and I are already far, far away from Vancouver. As you may have guessed from the title (no kidding), we are in Turkey!

So, while we are away, here are some Turkish dishes that JS and I have made in the past.

Börek with Beef Filling

Kısır (Turkish Bulgur "Tabbouleh")

Çılbak Köfte (Turkish Bulgur Kofte)

Mualle (Eggplant and Lentil Stew with Pomegranate Molasses)

Etli Biber Dolmasi (Stuffed Peppers with Groundmeat)

Shourabit Silq bi Laban (Lebanese Chard and Yogurt Soup)
(Yes, I know it says Lebanese, but I think yogurt soups are also served in Turkey.)

We will be back before you know it. =)

update:
We're back and enjoying a glass of Turkish Çay (Tea).

  2. We visited Istanbul for the first time on your tour and we are from Greece and we just loved it! We finally were able to see sights that we had only heard from our friends who visited Istanbul before. It was so amazing to see the especially old town http://www.packagetoursturkey.com - http://www.touroperatoristanbul.com I recommend people to visit Istanbul and the tour company because they were really great. They managed the tour very well I have to say that I have been a lot of places all over the world. But turkey is a fantastic country. We have been some part of turkey called Cappadocia, Ephesus, pamukale and it was great to see these places. The travel company managed the tour very well. Hotels, tours, and all services were excellent. We really loved it. Highly recommend it.

  6. love me some borek! I'm very, very jealous of you two - I just finished reading Orhan Pamuk's the Black Book, and am dying to visit Istanbul in the fall, witness the fog, the narrow alleyways, the charcoal braziers, the tea houses, the meze, Santa Sophia, the kebabs, the views across the Golden Horn, and that Byzantine city in all its labrynthine wonder. Did I mention I was jealous?

Hmm, it wasn't very fall-like, the weather. But yes... visiting Istanbul/Turkey is something jealous-worthy. ;)

  9. It was fabulous and the Mercedes van was very comfortable. I can say that our day tour of Cappadocia was perfect. I booked a private self chosen tour by www.privatetoursinistanbul.com When we skim through site we felt curious about prices but cost was VERY affordable ,flight tickets ,lunch guidance and private car with driver ,that was the tour that we looking for.. This was the BEST tour we have ever had and we all have traveled farely extensively so I consider all of us to be great judges of this experience. I can highly recommend this one to everyone would highly recommend.
